BIG BLUE ELEVATOR

We all live in a grand hotel
Shiny as the sun in Arles
The swimming pool's a wishing well
Where we cool our shooting stars
We get fresh paint like once a week
But the cracks still show right through
The pipes all leak in this big antique
And the elevator's blue

I'm in a big blue elevator goin' down
Down throught the strata, underground
I'll see ya later
Blue elevator goin' down

Noses glow on the patio
Where the party never stops

You'd best impress 'em with who you know
Or the temperature just drops
Behold their tinsel tanning beds
And their little leather souls
And I'm here losing all my threads
Unraveling my goals

Repeat Chorus

So I find a darkened hall
And feel my way along the wall
Till I hear that mighty elevator groan
Oh, the liftman knows me well
Drops the lever down to HELL
Hurries off and hollers
"Boy, you're on your own"

For those who live in the Grand Hotel
It's the only place to be
And once you get used to the smell
You would probably agree
All outsiders looking in
Want a seaside suite of rooms
To join us grinning skeletons
In self-medicating tombs
I'm in a big blue elevator goin' down
Mood navigator run aground
I'll see ya later
Blue elevator goin' down
